Fun in the sun?

Having two very energetic boys is bound to bring some bruises, cuts and different sorts of injuries. This was true for our weekend.

While celebrating at our ward's Pioneer Day celebration, Gabriel tripped right before making it to the side-walk. It was rough, and hard to see if he had broken his nose or teeth. After emotional crying, and some blood stains, Gabriel calmed down and everything seemed to be fine.

After all we thought "tough weekend" but what else could happen? Well, I guess getting his fingers caught on the door at church during nursery time was it. He is not a crier, but this had him going for a long time. He cried longer than when he fell the day before. He wouldn't move his fingers, and for a moment we thought his little fingers may have been broken. They seem fine, but we will see.

But before the pain, the drama, and the fingers pinched at church, we had some fun in the sun. They boys dropped their diapers and celebrated a very hot day in our luxurious poly pool.

Water is not Jake's top choice for fun, but he loves anything which involves hanging out with Gabriel.

As you can tell the boys were not concerned with wearing modest swimsuits. At one point a magazine salesman started making his way up the drive-way. As he made it to the top realized Gabriel was naked. The salesman turned around and walked away. It was easier than rejecting him. A bit creepy, and yet I can respect that.

The boys are doing well and happy to be with each other. Gabriel is doing well. He is very talkative and absorbs everything he hears, which at times can be dangerous.

Jake has been pulling himself up and walking around the house by holding on to things for a while now. Just recently he started taking steps. His current count is 3 steps before getting down and crawling.

Provo City Kids' Parade

Today we participated in the "Kids' Parade" in Provo. Very last minute we decided to do it, and were glad to. Erin decorated Gabriel's tricycle. He just learned to ride last week and was excited for what he called "my parade"

The city encouraged participants to dress up patriotically, so what is more patriotic then an Old Navy shirt, a red cape and an american flag on his trike? It was perfect. The entire parade was only about eight city blocks (Provo size) and about 45 minutes. It was really fun and Gabriel loved it!!!

General Conference updates

It has been since last General Conference since the blog has been updated. Its only fitting to update again.

It sure has become harder to keep up with certain things since the arrival of Jacob.

We are now a family of four. Our kids now match us in numbers, which is a little scary.

Jake is now crawling and standing up with the aid of the couch or the non-coffee table. It is really cute to see him excited.

Gabriel is just as energetic as always. He loves to read and often pretends to be reading books by himself. Gabriel has memorized pretty much the entire lyrics to "lets get down to business" song from Mulan. Don't ask how we got started on that. He also loves dinosaurs and sounds really cute when he says lambeosaurus and stegosaurus.

Gabe was admitted into the PR program at BYU last year and we are working on being done next April. Woot, woot!!!

We currently have a tent in the middle of our living room so we can watch conference.

We also played General Conference bingo and for every apostle picture that Gabriel recognized he got a skittle.

Our little boys love each other. Gabriel often says "He needs me" or "Its okay Jakey" when he cries. :)

We have a new lady in the family - our niece and cousin June Olivia Barber was born April 9th. My sister worked very hard to bring this little girl into the world and we're so happy she's here. She's beautiful and has LOTS of red hair. We're very excited to meet her. Congratulations Lindsay and Mark! We love all 3 of you.

What We Have Been Doing....

I guess he's basically a full blown toddler now! The days of dirty tops of socks and crawling is over and he is a WALKER now! Though many parents say walking is not something to look forward to, I have been and I LOVE it. He sort of waddles when he walks and it's so fun to watch.

We went to the BYU vs. Airforce game. It was freezing, with a little wind, which = TOO COLD TO BE OUTSIDE! So needless to say we didn't stay for the whole game. We actaully didn't even stay for half of the game. But it was still fun.

We had such a fun Halloween. This is an important day to me because it is my FAVORITE holiday. I don't exactly know why, but I LOVE Halloween. I think I have since I was really little. So of course I wanted Gabriel to be a part of everything that Halloween is even though he gets none of it:) And of course Gabe and I had to dress up. You decide what we are... Some people thought we were dogs and some thought we were bears...

We started the night out by trick-or-treating upstairs at our landlord's. We love them. They are so good to us. They took our family picture for us.

Then we headed down to Becca's house. Here she is with Gabriel. He loves her.

I love Fall! These were taken right before his birthday party at the park just down the street from our house. It's a great park and it looks beautiful right now with all the fall leaves. Happy Birthday to our little boy. He has grown so much, and everyday shows us something new. He was born October 21st 2008. We now share our anniversary with him and will forever. We are thankful for his love and spirit, and are grateful to have him with us.

Thanks to our friends Becca and Gordon for letting us use their home to get together and

celebrate. Also thanks to everyone else for your love and support of Gabriel.

The morning began with breakfast. Chocolate chip pancakes and milk to celebrate. After some running around and a bit of playing, we were ready to keep on going.

But not before a well needed nap!

After our nap, we were off to Gabriel's favorite restaurant Cafe Rio.

He loves it, and so do we.

After that we were off to the grocery store where Gabriel practiced his driving skills.

After our adventure at the store, we decided to go to the park and hang out and take some pictures. It was a little cold, but Gabriel did not mind it.

Once Gabriel was done with the park it was time to go to Becca's and celebrate with the family and have some cake.

We love this video! When I first heard him say this I was a proud mama. A couple months ago I showed him a picture of Jesus and from then on he beams when he sees Him. It's so sweet and he even grabbed a picture I showed him at the Distribution Center and kissed it! It's so fun to hear him really say words.

The regular bed time routine with Gabriel is dinner, bath time and then getting him ready for bed. Gabriel enjoyed some spaghettios this particular night.

Then bath time!

Last Wednesday we went to Timpview High Schools' football game. It was painful to watch since the opposing team lost terribly. We love this picture because Gabriel almost never cuddles with us, he is always on the run and ready to play, so once he did this we had to take a snap shot.

Gabriel again working on his musical skills. Since he thinks he already mastered the keyboard with his hands; he is using now his feet. Very clever.

Since September is now known as Hispanic Heritage Month, we wanted to have Gabriel get in touch with his inner Mexican.

Among Gabriel's very busy day, he always finds time for what is important. One of his regular routines is to go to bathroom and take everything out of the drawers. This happens every single day.
The stairs have become one of Gabriel's most important ways to stay in shape. Once he gets started going up the stairs he never stops. He goes up and down and up again. At least he gets to burn some calories. His favorite stairs are at our good friend Becca's. He gets a break before the second flight of stairs.
And finally! One day we came home and we found a huge spider! I have never seen anything like this in real life. I have seen plenty on TV and the Zoo, but never at my doorstep. HUGE!!!

3 months behind, lets get caught up

It has been 3months since the last post. Erin's birthday was the 19th of August. Gabriel and Erin visited Arcata, CA. for about 12 days and well, lets see if we can catch up.

Gabriel is about to turn one and there have been many changes, lets see if we can show a little of what has happened.

August

For the last little while Gabriel has become more mobile and started getting on things and into things. This is him behind one of our couches.

He uses our corner/coffee table to then climb into the couch. He is pretty good at not falling down, although once in a while he struggles when climbing down.

Climbing on, and on and on... never stops :)

9 Months! Oh Boy!

Today he is 9 months old. Wow. Time has passed so quickly. I can't believe we're 3 months away from 1 year! He is so full of personality and really fun to watch. I am so grateful to be a part of his life and be able to watch him learn and grow everyday. I love being his mom. I love him. Lots. And lots. He seems to have become more of a "big boy" overnight. He can sit in his high chair and feed himself his snacks and drink out of his sippy cup all by himself. He talks his gibberish to us everyday, especially when he wakes up in the morning (or the middle of the night). He knows how to give high-5, wave bye-bye, and clap his hands together. He pulls himself up to stand on anything and everything. Gabriel loves the water, whether it's bathtime or swimming. My favorite thing he does is throw stuff. And he doesn't just throw things, he throws them with attitude. He gets almost an angry look on his face and grunts as he throws stuff down, HARD. It's hilarious. We're enjoying summer and the nakedness that comes along with it (for him). It's fun to be with my little guy.

Lots has been happening in the world of Gabriel. He has been really crawling for a couple weeks now and he gets better and better (and faster) each day. Last week we caught him pulling himself up to standing in his crib. We're pretty sure it was the first time and since then he has been pulling himself up onto everything. He looks so cute when he does it. I've been putting him in his crib during the day just so I can watch him pull himself up! He's also becoming quite a little talker - love it! And...he has become our little vampire. He has his 2 bottom teeth, but no top front teeth - just his canines! Don't know what happened with those front ones...but no matter, he's still too dang cute even with full on fangs!

Open House

Last week we had the opportunity to visit the open house for the Oquirrh Mountain Temple. Erin, baby Gabriel and I had the opportunity to also have family with us. Lindsay and Mark were there. Also Emely and Hilton with baby Ella and Lindsay. It was really fun, even when the weather started acting weird.

Gabriel wanted to go incognito. He has been harassed by the paparazzi.

Gabriel is growing so fast and he's such a fun little man. He sits up on his own now - he has been for like 2 weeks I think. He really likes it. He may never crawl because he has learned he can get around by rolling over and over and over:) He loves bathtime and I'm pretty sure he hates to sleep. He is just too curious about the world to get slowed down by sleep! He is a little sweetheart who loves to snuggle with me. And he gives hugs and kisses. Sometimes he just randomly grabs me around my neck and opens his mouth up on my cheek. Sometimes he also latches on and sucks on the side of my chin while he hugs me. And most of the time there is a great deal of hair grabbing with all of this. No teeth yet, but I just know they're not far away. It's so fun to see him growing and learning and finding out about this world he now lives in.

5 Things I Love about Gabe

He's so funny - he makes me laugh all the time. Many times I'm amazed at how he can come up with such funny remarks. Our great friend, Becca, calls it "hysterical laughter at anything her husband says." What can I say, I'm a sucker for him!
He's super smart - like really smart. And smart about anything: computers, electronics, the streets...you name it, he knows how it works.
He's sensitive - but not in a feminine kind of way...He's a guy but understands me when something girlie is important to me or when I'm sad about something maybe other guys would find stupid. And he knows you never say anything about stuff like weight, looks, etc. unless it's totally positive.
He's generous - the most generous person I know. The best part is that it's completely who he is and not in a "I'm trying to be righteous" way.
He's a family man - he loves Gabriel and I with everything he has. He tells us and shows us everyday and I know KNOW he would give or do anything for us.

5 Things I Love about Gabriel

His smell - it's just so sweet and perfect. Even if he smells like spit up, I can't get enough.
His warm little body - especially in the middle of the night when I want to cry because I have to wake up again to feed him. But I can't resist his little head and tummy and legs and feet and arms and neck and etc.
His smile - it's the cutest thing there ever was. There's just something about a baby's smile, but especially my Baby Gabe's gummy grin! It can light the darkest room.
His cry - even though sometimes it's the last thing I want to hear:) But it's so pure and he really has a nice cry. I've heard some babies....
His hands - they're tiny and soft. The balls of his fingers are especially soft. I like to hold his hand while I'm feeding him and stroke the tips of his fingers. And I love when he uses his hands to touch my face or hold my hand - it's like he's showing me he loves me.

Gabriel's first time eating anything other then breast milk. He seemed to really enjoy it. For a few days he seemed really hungry and not quite satisfied with just milk. He watches us while we eat and seems to want to take a bite. So we decided that it was time to try some rice cereal.

Little G is Growing Up

He rolls! He has been teasing us for a while now by rolling over every now and then but on Monday he mastered it! He can easily roll over from his back to his tummy! He has been having a little trouble going the other way but tonight, as I'm writing this, I've seen him flip from his tummy to his back twice! So maybe he's getting the hang of that too. It's so fun to see him so interested in the world around him, wanting to touch everything...and then eat it:) I'm so glad I've been able to share everyday, all day with him. It has been a hard adjustment being home all alone with him, sometimes not sure what to do with him and how to entertain him. But I love that I know him so well and we're best friends. He embeds himself deeper in my heart everyday and as time passes I see he feels the same way about me.

Our trip to California

We visited my parents in northern California for about 11 days. It was a really fun trip where Gabriel got to spend some more time with my mom and meet my dad.

We found him a used Bumbo on Craigslist for $10! They're $40 new. I'm not sure he likes it, he tries to get out the whole time he sits in it. But at least it gives him a chance to sit up on his own Just sucking on his fingers with my mom Sitting with my cousin, Lisa, at his first basketball game. We were sitting under one of the hoops (it was a rec game in a small cafeteria "gym" and those were the only open seats). He would freak out, but in an excited way, when the girls charged down the court. It was so funny!
It was such a great trip. We were able to take lots of walks because the waether was so mild. It did rain a lot, but that was nice because I LOVE the rain and it doesn't rain enough in Utah. We ate good. I'm off dairy because Gabriel is sensitive to it. Arcata is a big vegetarian/vegan town so I had some good dairy-free treats. The local frozen yogurt shop, Redwood Yogurt, had dairy-free vanilla yogurt and dairy-free waffle cones. I was also served special vegan bread before dinner at Mazzotti's, a local Italian restaurant. And my mom tweaked some recipes for me so I could still eat her good, homemade food. We were sad to leave, but it sure was good to see Gabe!

Four Months and Counting

Gabriel and I celebrated his 4 month mark on the 21st in Arcata, California - my hometown. He is getting so big and he's so much fun. He continues to talk, blow raspberries, and sometimes giggles when he gets tickled under his chin, his tummy, or his thighs. I need to get him a Johnny Jump-Up because he jumps when I have him stand on my legs. He has been known to roll onto his tummy and then back to his back, but he likes to tease us with this and we've only caught him doing it a couple times:) He hasn't figured out that his arm gets in the way of rolling over and that makes him frustrated. He's a little sweetie and loves to be held. I'm working on getting him to say "mama"!

He Talks!

Gabriel has been a little talker since he was really little, but in the last week or so he has started to talk a lot more. It's the cutest thing. Last night he just really started blabbering away while we were trying to put him to sleep. The video is totally dark because it was in the bedroom and I didn't want to disturb what was happening. We have so much fun with him and he'll be 3 months on Wednesday!

2 months and being sick

The last Tuesday in December we made the dreaded trip to the doctor for Gabriel's 2 month checkup - which included his immunizations. At the time he weighed 11 1bs 15.5 oz. So we can just round that up to 12! This put him in the 45th percentile for weight. I can't really remember his length, something like 15 inches, and that put him in the 22nd percentile for length. And apparently he has a tiny head because he was only in the 15th percentile for head size! Initially they put him in the 8th percentile but then the doctor remeasured his head and adjusted the percentile. He did really well when getting his shots, but it pained me to hear him; he cried a cry I have never heard before. That day and the next he was really fussy and had a fever. We could tell he just did not feel good. No more shots until the beginning of March. That will probably come too soon though! On another note, no one told me that once you have a baby you absolutely, positively, no matter what CANNOT get sick! Last week I got hit hard and fast with a bad cold and strep throat. It gets kind of tricky when you have a little baby to take care of. He was great though! Luckily he likes t.v. I know that sounds horrible, but I would set him up in the Boppy and he would watch t.v. for half an hour. It was hilarious but really helped me out. He got a cold too with a nasty cough, but it went away fairly quickly. I am doing whatever I can now to NEVER get sick again.

Blessing Day

This last Saturday we blessed our little baby boy. The day was perfect! I really wanted my brother, Tommy, to be able to help bless him and we also wanted a more personal setting, so we decided to bless him at home. We held the blessing at Gabe's dad's house and invited some close friends and family. My mom bought his blessing outfit and it'll be used for the future grandson's blessings. It is so cute and he looked scrumptious in it. It even had a little bowtie! His Aunt Mely put him to sleep just before the blessing and he stayed asleep the whole time. Gabe gave a really beautiful blessing. I knew he would - he always says the best things when he prays. I never imagined I would be married to anyone but a worthy priesthood holder, but it's times like these that make you really appreciate the significance of that. I am really grateful to be blessed with such a good man as my husband. Anyone who knows him knows exactly what I mean; and good is an understatement:) It was surreal listening to my own son be blessed. Will it ever feel real? I'm so excited to see him grow into a boy and then a man and I know he will be a wonderful person if he lives up to the blessing Gabe gave him. I love my little family. And I'm super biased, but it's hard to not love my little man when he's so darn cute!

My Little Love

We love our little boy. I absolutely adore him. I just look at him and think he must be the most beautiful thing I have ever seen. Everything he does is cute and no matter how fussy or difficult he is my heart still melts for him. Sometimes I feel bored with being in the house all day, everyday. Sometimes I feel frustrated when I can't figure out what he needs. Sometimes I feel exhausted and I'm not sure I can face the next day. But in a weird way whenever I feel these feelings I just love him even more. I guess the hard work makes it all the more sweet. Today we napped on the couch together and when I woke up he was so cute just lying there with one of his arms over his face and I felt really grateful that he is mine and that I have the privilege of being his mom and he is my son. He is my little pal and I am so thankful that we can spend every minute together. I don't think we ever realize the sacrifices mothers make but it makes me so happy to be able to give all of myself to him. And even though when I hold him and he looks right into my eyes and smiles it's probably only gas, it still makes all the difficulties and frustrations worth it. I love him.

One Month

Happy 1 month!!!!

It has been one month since little Gabriel arrived. He is getting bigger and filling up really well. He sure loves to eat and to make deposits in his diapers. He is very alert and very active. He follows us with his eyes and turns his head very well. He has a strong little neck.

He loves being in the bathroom. No matter how sad or fuzzy he is, as soon as we set him on the changing pad he lightens up and all of his troubles seem to go away. Even before changing him.

We are very happy that he is here with us and we would not want it any other way.

One Good Mom

My mom came out from California last week to come meet Little Gabriel. We had a really fun time with her. I am so grateful that she could come out since it's not an easy thing for her to do and it was up in the air whether she would even be able to. I have to say I have the greatest mom. One thing I have always admired about her is how hard she works - this woman doesn't stop. She is incredible. She got here Tuesday night and that happened to be a night the baby had really bad gas. She stayed up until 4:00 a.m. burping and carrying him. It was so nice of her to sacrifice her sleep to stay up and help me. Did she sleep in? Oh no, she was up early the next morning (several hours before me). When I woke up she was in our back bedroom, Little Gabriel's future bedroom, organizing and cleaning. This room was like a messy closet - everything and anything shoved into it. She worked her butt off all day to take care of this room so that I could have some order to it. I don't know how I would have ever gotten this room cleaned up without her. I probably wouldn't have. She also organized my kitchen cupboards, cleaned the top of my refrigerator, did lots of laundry, and many, many more things to help me have a more organized house.
Thursday night my stake held a special Enrichment evening. Sister Julie Beck, the General Relief Society President, spoke. She is actually in my stake, which I didn't know. She held a question and answer session. It was wonderful and I am really glad I got to go with my mom. We haven't been able to do something like that for a really long time.
Since we would not be together for Thanksgiving my sister and her husband came to Provo from Bountiful and we all had a Thanksgiving dinner. My mom spent hours cooking for us and it was dang good!
I just want to thank my mom for all she did for me. She has always been the kind of mom who would sacrifice anything for her children. Growing up she always put us before herself. I have a great model of what a mother should be and I hope that I can be as good as she was and still is. I love you, Mom!

We have had some really good laughs since Gabriel was born. And Saturday night was the best yet. My sister, Lindsay, was visiting and we knew Gabriel needed to be changed so we took him to the bathroom where we have our changing area set up. He had had a very minor blowout so I called Gabe to come look. He came in and was starting to wipe his little bum when Gabriel ripped a loud one. As he did he literally shot poop out, and halfway across the bathroom as you can see. I was standing dangerously close and jumped back to avoid being hit. I cannot remember the last time I laughed so hard. I was struggling to breathe and as you can imagine my bladder is a little weak at this point...
As I was writing this post Gabriel started crying and wanted to be fed. I thought he needed a diaper change so I took him to the bathroom before I fed him. Ironically, the same thing happened, only worse! He shot poop all over my hand, the floor, even to the wall across from the counter where he was. It was a total mess and kind of hard to clean all by myself, as Gabe wasn't home this time. I guess this is my welcome to motherhood!

The little things in life

I can admit now that during this couple of days sleep has been almost absent. It does not matter if its morning or night, I feel just as tired. Who could have thought that such a small boy with a very tiny digestive system could go through so many diapers in a day. I have to admit that it makes me VERY happy when I know that he has a dirty diaper, because this means that he is eating!!! Little Gabriel has been struggling a little bit with breast feeding. It is because of this, that when he gets a dirty diaper, I know that he is getting some food.

It is the little things in life that mean the most. He will eventually not struggle eating, and eventually will be able to sleep a whole night without waking up, someday he will be able to go to potty by himself. Until then Erin and I will enjoy the blessing that it is to be a parent, waking up about every 2 hours , and not remembering if its day or night, or when was the last time we had something to eat, wondering if the last time he woke up was 1 minute ago or 1 hour ago.

I say it again, I admire parents and the sacrifices they make, especially mothers. I cannot believe the kind of energy and patience that Erin has and the love that she shows little Gabriel. No matter how loud he cries and how much attention he needs, Erin just calms him down. Love you Erin ;)

Today we left the hospital. Up until now little Gabriel has been wearing the little shirts that the hospital gave us. Since he peed on two of them when we were changing him, we changed him into something of ours. As you can see he could not quite fill it in. He looks just adorable. We know it wont be long until he fills them. So we will enjoy the fact that he just looks so cute in his new clothes.

Little Gabriel Lucas Guerrero. He arrived at 12:04 AM October 21st, the day of our second wedding anniversary. He weighed 7lbs & 8oz and measured 20 1/2 inches. We adore him and love him so very much. It is hard to explain, but all of you parents out there know what I am talking about.
Erin is doing great! She was able to do it naturally and without any drugs!!!

We were hoping he would come the 20th or earlier, but I think he knew what he was doing and waited four extra minutes to give us the best anniversary present.

He is healthy and there seems to be no problems. I have so many pictures but I can only post this phone picture until we have more time.

Thanks to everyone for their support and love. This is by far the best experience of our lives!

The Time is Near

The time is near. Little Gabriel could be here any minute now. Although he most likely will wait until his due date, we cannot stop thinking that he might be here earlier. We are under two weeks to go. When I say we, I mean Erin. There has been small contractions and some soreness. It has become a bit difficult to sit or stand for long periods of time. Even with all the change that Erin has experienced, she is just excited and grateful for this blessing and experience, and so am I!

Graduation

I am such a slacker! It has taken me way too long to post about Erin's graduation!!!
With that out of the way;

Erin graduated last month from Brigham Young University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Public Health Education. To be precise, she graduated the 14-15 Aug. It was great! We were all very happy and very excited for her. Erin's family and mine were able to attend and celebrated with us.

I am very impressed with Erin. Especially at how hard working she is. She was able to go to school, work, do an internship and be pregnant all at the same time! I don't care who you are, but that is impressive.

Little Gabriel was also present, I can say that my son has gone through a BYU graduation!!!

After graduation we over indulged with insane amounts of meat at Tucanos Brazilian grill. Even though our bodies were screaming afterward, it was a great experience.

Erin, you are amazing and we are so very proud of you!!! Congrats!!!Felicidadez!!!

We're Back in the Game!

So after a long hiatus, we're back. We apologize for the absence. Things have been busy! I am running around with my head chopped off (so I feel). I am back in school for summer term, my final semester of college! I am taking a history class from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. and then I go to English from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. Class is Monday, Wednesday, Friday. Then I go to work 1:30 to 6:30 Monday through Thursday. By then I am exhausted, but it's homework time. Thursday mornings I have internship work I do. I only have about 3 full weeks left and then I am actually graduating! I can't believe the end is so near. August 14th and 15th is graduation. Little Gabriel will have done some pretty cool stuff in utero by the time he's born - flown to New Orleans, Disneyland, graduating college! Gabe has been very supportive - he takes me to school every morning and gets me breakfast and snacks ready on most days. What would I do without him?
I have been a serious slacker at taking pics of my progressing belly. But I will post one very soon. I have already had someone ask me if I'm sure I'm not having twins. I think she might have been trying to be nice, but it doesn't really come across that way, especially when I still have a lot of time to grow! I am so grateful for every minute of being able to carry this little guy. Who cares that my back hurts constantly, my right rib seems to ache often, and I find myself having difficulty sleeping many nights? It's so worth it and no matter how uncomfortable things get I will never stop loving and embracing this miracle that has and will change my life forever.

It is a boy! A 14 oz. little boy! We had our ultrasound done June 2nd and we were surprised to find out it wasn't a girl. I thought mothers were supposed to have intuition or something... I was so sure it was a girl-I hadn't even looked at boy clothes! But I am so excited to have a boy. And Gabe is ecstatic; he couldn't be happier. We are going to name him Gabriel (middle name still to be decided). I think it feels a little more real for both of us, though it's still very surreal.
I love these ultrasound pictures. I love the first one - he has such a cute little bum! And his arm and leg pictures are so cool. We are so happy he seems to be healthy and strong!

20 Weeks and Kicking!

I am halfway through and it has flown by! I have felt the baby kick a little over the last few weeks! Multiple times I have felt the baby kick and then Gabe has tried to feel it kick and nothing! But today I sat down for a little bit, had a peanut butter sandwich, and pretty soon I felt a couple kicks. I grabbed Gabe's hand to feel and he pushed in my uterus a little bit. After about 10 seconds there was a really big kick and he felt it! We were so excited! He thought maybe I had faked it somehow for him, but little Baby Warrior was kicking for his dad! And it's only going to get better!

18 weeks

I have reached the point where I now look pregnant, not just like I've suddenly gained 10 pounds. It seems like all of a sudden it happened; I went from having a pooch in my stomach one day to having a round, full tummy. I have dreamed of this point all of my life. Sort of... for some reason I have been enthralled with pregnancy since I was little. When my sister and I were little our favorite dress-up was shoving pillows under our shirts and pretending we were pregnant. We have both dressed up as pregnant women for Halloweens and I was looking at some pictures today and for the circus my class put on in kindergarten I was not just any clown, but I was a pregnant clown! We loved the jean maternity jumper my mom had from the eighties and always looked forward to the day when we got to wear it. And now the time is come! I am loving the adventure so far and can't wait to be able to hold our little "IT" as Gabe calls 'it'.

Guerreros

After our visit to Disneyland a couple of weeks ago ( You know, where I distracted Minnie and ruined someone's "Make-a-Wish" moment) we also took the opportunity to get together with some of my extended family from my Dad's side, the Guerrero family. Since we moved to Utah I have only seen my grandma and one of my aunts. As far as the rest of my family goes, it has been almost eleven years. During our visit I also met some of my cousins that have been born since we moved from Mexico.

This is my grandma Anna and my sister Melisa. My grandma has been sick for the last year or so and we really wanted to see her again. She is really cool and not like your conventional grandma. There are just too many stories and I guess it would be hard to explain, but she is great!

My uncle Gerardo (on the right) was kind enough to let us stay at his house during our visit. He also made "pozole" and it was delicious. I think I gained a few pounds, but they were totally worth it.

Only four of my uncles and one of my aunts , with their families, were able to make it. My dad comes from a family of 13 siblings, so this visit would have been really interesting if all of them and their families would have made it. On the picture above my dad is the one wearing the BYU t-shirt with my grandma and my uncle Edgardo.

Since my dad's family is really numerous, and my dad is one of the older siblings, I am close in age with one of my uncles. My uncle Roberto (above) is about 6 years older then me. He is one of the uncles that I was able to spend more time with when I was younger. Also my aunt Maribel, who was not there, happened to be close to our age and spent a lot of time with my sisters and I in Mexico. She now lives in Washington DC.

We were only there for a couple of days, but it was great seeing my family. It was a whole other experience for Erin also, since most of the conversations were in Spanish. But my family loved her. They kept telling me how pretty she was and that she could've done better for herself. I do agree that she could have, but I am glad she didn't ;0) My cousins and Roberto spoke English, but for the most part, it was a Spanish speaking visit. Good job Erin!

We are planning on going back next year, and hopefully will be able to have the whole family there. That will be very so great and we are so looking forward to it.

PS: No family gathering is complete without an ice cream truck. This guy had such variety that it was chaotic trying to choose just the right delicious treat.

Disneyland

Where your dreams come true. Last week Erin and I left for California to visit Disneyland and California Adventures. We decided to have this be our celebration for our a 1 1/2 year anniversary (good excuse) and our new baby that should be here in October. So, we planned on being there for 3 days. It was a blast! Last April we bought year passes and they expired on April 27th, so we wanted to make the best of them. We have visited the parks in the past. We have done pretty much everything at Disney, but there were some shows that we had not seen since we concentrated the previous times on the big rides. So this was our trip to achieve 100% completion. And we did!!!

Some of our personal favorites are: Soaring over California, Screamin, Splash Mountain, Pirates of the Caribbean and its a small world. But we truly enjoyed all of them.

Since we decided to go to California, my side of the family ( The Guerreros) decided to get together in Palm Springs with my dad's family and my Grandma. This turned out to be a wonderful trip. My Dad, Mely and Jeremy joined us for the last two days at Disney. It was Jeremy's first time visiting Disneyland and California Adventures, so we were pretty excited to show him around.Erin and I were super exhausted by the time we left Disneyland. We felt that we did everything we wanted to do and ate at the places that we wanted to eat. It was FANTASMIC!

And YES!!! We had IN-N-OUT! It was delish!

THE GUERREROS ARE HAVING A BABY!!!

So we finally decided to make it official. We are having a baby! Erin is in her second trimester and everything seems to be going well with the baby. We had the opportunity to hear the baby's heart beat this past week. It was a really great experience. It still does not seem real, but we just can't wait to have our baby.

We have been waiting for the first trimester to go by before telling everyone. According to our calculations our new baby should be arriving around October 18, 2008.

We don't really care if it's a boy or a girl, although we both think that our first might be a girl. We have no evidence that this would be the case, but it is really fun thinking about it. I think it would be easier to have a boy first, and then a little girl, but then again, I have never had a baby so I have no idea.

Above are two pictures of us when we were babies. Erin and I have been wondering who the baby will look like, and how dark or light she or he will be. I guess time will say, but we are pretty sure that we'll have a brown baby... or so Erin hopes :)

Closed deal!

The deal is closed and we got the loan. We are very excited. We finally get to drive a four door car with an automatic engine. Erin is finally able to drive and to drop me at school when needed. That makes me very happy. Anyway, just wanted to share with everyone.

Our New Used Car...Maybe

2006 Nissan Sentra. 1.8 L Sport

This could very possibly be our "New Used" Car. We are waiting for our loan to go through, so cross your fingers for us. Erin and I really liked it. It supposedly gets 27 mpg city and 34 highway (We sure hope so) and it still has a warranty. It is not the coolest, but it sure beats driving our crashed Mustang or the "Big Old Van".

This is how our 1997' Mustang looked after the accident. We really miss her, she has been part of the family for the longest time. I had this car before I met Erin, so the Mustang was there for all of our dates and travels. She took us to Long Beach and to Erin's first visit to Disneyland. She also took us to Arcata two times and twice to Washington State, first to Seattle and then to Spokane. She has been to Las Vegas back and forth many times. I guess I see where the 178,000 miles went. She treated us well and never broke down on us. She really took care of us. She will be missed.

And here is the van that we drove for a while. It is so sweet. It has mood lights inside, and a couch that folds into a bed. If it wasn't like a hundred years old it would be even better. I guess back in 1990 it was very hip and cool. It has a great pink interior with matching curtains and hook ups for TV and a VCR! It was fun driving it around BYU and around our neighborhood. I will surely miss the looks that some people around the neighborhood gave us.

We need a new post! I will follow up with some pictures but for right now it'll be just text. We have been car shopping this weekend. We found one we really like: an '06 Honda Accord with 30,000 miles for $13,9995. But we have decided we are going to take a little more time and do some more searching. We will probably have this car for the next 5+ years and at least 2 kids probably, maybe even 3. That's a good deal, but I think we can find an even better one. I am really excited to get a new car, and so is Gabe. He has been looking hard and doing a lot of research.
We were going to drive Gabe's high school car, a 1989 Dodge Colt, but after we got it working and registered, as we were driving it home, it sounded like it was about to die. So much for that idea! But we will post pictures of our little Colt and Mustang. They are sitting outside our house on the street.

Mely and Jeremy's Wedding

Today Mely and Jeremy got married! She will now be known as Melisa Ulibarri. It was a really low key wedding. Only our immediate family and some of my sister's friends were there. We had some really good Carne Asada, cake and much more. We are so happy that things are working out for Jeremy and Mely. Good luck in Las Vegas and don't gamble all your money. Mississippi

This is my first time in the great state of Mississippi. We had a great time riding with Ronnie and Beth. We sang along to some "Air Supply", "Chicago", "Blue October" , "Guns n' Roses" among others. Unfortunately Becca was not with us since she had a concert to attend to, but we'll see her tomorrow.
Being in Mississippi is really cool. We are now visiting the rest of the family. We are staying at the Packs' ( Blair and Aunt Betty Jane). Thanks for the accommodations.
Tonight we visited Kevin and Cindy and had really good pulled pork. There we met their children Lindsey, Caroline, and Jonathan. Almost the whole Pack family was there. One of the highlights of the night was seeing Emma wearing her cute little new glasses. She looks very cute wearing them.
We had a really good time hanging out by the fire and by the pool. Emily and Hilton were there with Sam, Jack, and Sophie. I guess Maddie was at a sleepover. Also Amanda, Matthew, John, Emma and Ava were there, and we'll see David tomorrow . It was a full house. I also met Jenny and Mike, and their children Parker and Cade.

Everyone has been really good to us, and we feel right at home. I have felt that "Southern Hospitality" that many talk about. Thanks "Ya'll" for the love and hospitality you've shown to us.
We are having a really good time, and who knows, Erin and I might even get up really early in the morning and go for that "Family-Morning-Run" that Beth and Ronnie talk so much about ;0)

The Big Easy

Well, this is a shout out to the South. Especially to "The Ronster", "Beccaster and "The Bethster" (these titles are not official and we are not responsible for any further damages caused to their emotional well being)
We are currently in Hammond visiting Erin's family, which is my family also. Erin and I came prepared to gain a few pounds, and I think that we have already maxed out our calorie limits. There is some really yummy food down here. The seafood is amazing and I loved the "Mufalafalafala" or something like that.

For the past two days we have visited New Orleans, and it has been a blast. We went to a piano bar and we all sang to the tune of "Total Eclipse from the Heart" and "Mandy" which was great, especially for the drunk family from New York that was sitting next to us.

As tourists, we had to take some pictures in Bourbon Street. We did the expected things that visitors do and got invited to the "Weed Room" at the corner bar. All in all a regular visit I suppose.

Thanks to the Abels for their hospitality, and to Becca for letting us sleep in her room.
